• The Transport and Road Research Laboratory has engaged the consultants Atkins Planning to carry out the freight survey, announced last June, which aims to provide data to guide government policy relating to the transport of goods in towns.
A substantial amount of preliminary work has already been done and questionnaires will shortly be sent to firms in Swindon (including Stratton St Margaret and Haydon Wick) to obtain information about the goods vehicles which they operate. Details about the operation of these vehicles will later he requested from the firms.
