Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• More than 1,300 truck drivers are fighting to keep a Bristol snack bar open in the face of an eviction threat.

Snack bar owner Chris Newport runs the mobile business on the approach to Royal Portbury Docks in the city. But the Bristol Port Company is tying to move him on as part of its redevelopment plans for the area. "They are trying to put me out of business, but I have already got a 1,300-strong petition from drivers calling for me to stay," says Newport.

A BPC spokeswoman says the snack bar causes congestion problems with trucks double parking. "He will have to move once we get planning permission," she says.

A planning application to redevelop the land will be considered by Avon County Council next month.

The snack bar has been trading for more than two years. Newport says he has a piece of land available for a permanent truck stop but cannot afford to develop it.
