Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

road haulage, I notice the amount of wages shown in the 1966 edition of the CONIMERCVAL MOTOR Tables of Operating Costs is approximately 10 per cent higher than the appropriate rate shown in the Road Haulage Wages Regulations RH84. Why?

A As stated in the introduction to the tables,

paragraph "wages" (al, calculation of wages is based on the minimum RH84 rate payable for a 41-hour week. To this amount is added the employers' contributions to National Insurance and voluntary indemnity insurance, with a further addition resulting from an adjustment to include the cost of holidays with pay. Overall this accounts for the addition this reader has noticed.

According to individual circumstances a further addition in respect of overtime will be necessary in appropriate cases and for this reason examples of overtime payments are given an page 59 of the current edition of the Tables.
