111 The improved cornpound used by R E Tyre and Rubber of Alton, Hants in its range of precured treads for commercial
vehicle applications now comes within the UK Retread Manufacturer Association's highest classification of 'Premium' grade.
RE's expanded range includes ten individual tread patterns with alternative widths and lengths, and in sonic cases alternative tread depths. The latest addition to the range are the WO and 220mm width ZY treads for on/off road use.
Treads to the higher premium standard are identifiable by the RE logo and date of manufacture moulded on the lower shoulder area of the treads.
Ei An amalgamation of the American El' Goodrich Company and Uniroyal tyre businesses, has created the world's fifth largest tyre company.
The new Uniroyal BFGoodrich Tire Company, owned by Uniroyal and BF-Goodrich subsidiaries, will continue to produce both tyre brands. In the UK the two companies will operate separately.
Roth firms have concentrated on the passenger and light truck markets, but
lniroyal has enjoyed a stronger position in the OE sector while BFGoodrich. has focused its attention on the replacement market.
