Several Improvements Incorporated in the New L.G.O.C. Product.

OI.TR. readers will recall that in a recent issue we described at some length the first of the coveredtop six-wheeled buses to be put into service by the London General Omnibus Co., Ltd., the new type being known as the L.S., signifying London Six, A second bus of this description has now been commissioned for use, and although it resembles L.S.1 in general form, it embodies certaba new features which experience with the original vehicle has deemed to be desirable, these, in the main, making for increased comfort for passengers. For example, the platform area has been increased by 11 ins, in width, whilst the overall length of L.S.2 is 29 ft. 5i ins, as compared with the 29 ft. 11 ins, of its prototype.

Although, actually, more seating space is available, the number of passengers which the latest bus accommodates is now 66 as against 68 on the first covered-top six-wheeler, thus allowing more freedom of movement for passengers.

Another outstanding improvement is that the body is constructed of aluminium and Duralumin instead of steel. The number of passengers which can be seated in the lower saloon is 30 as compared with 32 in the original vehicle, whilst the seating capacity of the upper deck remains the same. L.S.2 has recently been at the Chiswick training school of the company, where certain .members of the staff have received instruction in its operation. The vehicle is being used on route 16a, which runs from, Iric4iria Station to Cricklewood, The general features of the design can be clearly seen from the illustration which we reproduce, and we would refer those who are desirous of securing amplified particulars of the body design and chassis construction to ,our issue -dated from June 7th last.
