Road Haulage Association members in the Yorkshire (Leeds) area have elected J. B. Midgley as area chairman. He succeeds R. Barker, who was chairman for four years.

Overseas removers Michael Gerson Ltd of London has appointed three new directors. One is Brian Charles, who has been with the company for eight years and has represented the company at conferences in North and South America and is also an instructor at Institute of Furniture Warehousing and Removals.

The others are George Taylor, responsible for Gersons warehousing operations and Andrea Levinson, one of the best known women in the removals business. Andrea has just returned from South Africa where she represented the company at the South African Moving Institute Conference.

Brian Bowler is to be the sales director of Volkswagen (GB), replacing Clive Noakes, who has left the company. Mr Bowler joined the company nine years ago and was responsible for the establishment of the VW computer centre at Ramsgate.
