• Two Eddie Stobart managers have been fined for helping drivers falsify their tacho records. The two are both traffic managers at the firm's Woolfox, Leics depot, and admitted the offences at Chester Crown Court.

Trevor Pullen, of Valley Road, Grantham was fined .C1,250 for five offences of aiding and abetting drivers to falsify tachograph records. John Davies, of Charles Avenue, Ancester, Grantham, was fined £750 with £250 costs, for one offence of falsifying a chart and two offences of aiding and abetting drivers to falsify charts.

A third member of the management team, Reginald Motley, of Beaver Gardens, Great Gonerby, Lincs, said by the prosecution to be the Woolfox depot manager, has pleaded not guilty to three charges of aiding and abetting drivers to falsify charts.

Motley's trial is due to start next month; it could last up to three weeks.
