Specialist piano transporter condemns low-quality' rivals

A COMPANY THAT specialises in transporting pianos believes the internet is awash with poorquality operators offering to undercut traditional hauliers.

'Julian Rout, managing director at Piano Logistics, based in Middlesex and Milton Keynes, says it is difficult for firms like his

that use modified E.90,000 trucks— to compete on cost with low-standard rivals that run old vans and bid for work online.

"We have to educate our customers when they call for a quote, and explain why we are more expensive. It is amazing someone could spend £20,000 on a piano, then say £300 is too much to transport it," he says.

Piano Logistics employs 30 staff and transports all types of pianos, including upright and grand models.

Last year the firm, which works for nine out of 10 piano-makers, moved to a 250,000ft2 Milton Keynes distribution centre.
