THE EEC Commission has proposed a budget of £356m to be spent on improvements to road, rail and water transport in EEC member countries up to the end of 1987.
The aim of the money is to eliminate bottlenecks, improve links between outlying memberstates and the rest of the EEC, provide better transhipment facilities and promote the modernisation of the inland waterways.
The Commission has put its proposals before the Council of Ministers.
