and books with 15 sheets need not have duplicate sheets, do the completed records have to be preserved for 12 months as before?

AThe Drivers' Hours (Keeping of Records) Regulations which come into force on October 31, make provision for the exclusive use of the EEC type record book. Completed records must be kept for 12 months but there is one alteration.

In the past, duplicate sheets which have been handed in by drivers could be destroyed when the complete book from which they were detached was returned to the employer. Now these sheets must also be preserved for 1 2 months.

An amendment sheet to the booklet "A guide to International Goods Vehicle Drivers' Hours and Records" issued free by the DoT is available from traffic area offices.
