Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ALMOST all types of vehicle are shown on this stand, ranging from a 12-16 h.p. taxicab to a 25-35 h.p. 3ton chassis. All the vehicles are finished in the usual Unic high-grade style, with which all commercial-vehicle users are familiar.

The layout of every type is on straightforward lines. Thus the 3-ton chassis has a four-cylindereel engine of 80 mm. bore and 148 mm. stroke, sideby-side valves being used in conjunction with a detachable cylinder head.

• The valves are inclined to the bores of the cylinders in order to improve the shape of the combustion chambers. The power unit is reminiscent of touring.car practice, .in that the auxiliaries—. the dynamo and magneto—are driven in tandem from the rear face of the

• timing case, the two instruments being hold by straps to a platform ; the water pump is situated at the forward end of the distribution drive shaft. • The clutch and gearbox (with central 011001) are mounted uuitwise with the

engine. Transmission is by a twostage open propeller shaft fitted with 1-tardy-Spieer joints where necessary. The wheels . are shod with Michelin 'tyres of 955 ram. by 155 mm. section,

singles being -fitted at the front and twins at the rear. Four-wheel brakes are fitted as standard and are included in the chassis price of £625.

Other interesting exhibits are the 20-cwt., 30-cwt. and 2-ton vehicles, all of which are built on somewhat similar lines. The smallest . of the range has a 14-28 h.p. engine, with cylinders of 72.8 ram. bore and a piston stroke of 120 mm. This chassis is designed to take a total load, including the body, of 30 cwt., and is shad with 30-in. by 5-in. tyres on detachable disc wheels.

A somewhat larger engine is fitted to the 30-cwt. chassis, but follows generally the specification of all the other models. The gross carrying capacity of this vehicle is 2 tons, and the price of the chassis complete with f.w.b. is £430. With a gross capacity for carrying 52 cwt. the normally rated 2-ton chassis costs £495.

Every taxicab proprietor is familiar with Unic vehicles. Two models are shown, one, however, by an engine of 12-16 h.p. and the other by an engine of 14-28 h.p., this latter vehicle being known as the Provincial cab. The 12-16 h.p. model has an engine of 75• mm. bore and 120 mm. stroke.
