ANY' interested in very light transport will find plenty to examine in the exhibits on this stand, for several examples of the Peugeot 7-12 h.p. chassis and vans are displayed.

The engine of this model has four cylinders with a bore and stroke of 51 ram. and 88 mm. respectively, giving a total piston-swept volume of 719 c.c. and an R.A.C. rating of 6.4 h.p. The cylinder block and crankcase are formed in a single casting, which also provides the mounting for the two bearings of the crankshaft. A pump, submerged in the sump, supplies troughs with oil, the connecting-rod big-end bearings obtaining their supply by means of dippers. The dynamo and magneto are driven in tandem from the rear face of the timing cover, vernier couplings being interposed between each instrument. This arrangement of drive naturally assists materially in simplifying the gear operating the auxiliaries.

A single-plate clutch is mounted unitwise with the engine, and conveys the drive through a long, enclosed pro. peller shaft to the gearbox, which is mounted on the rear end of the torque tube forming a unit with the differential easing. Three speeds forward are provided, the lever being located in the centre of the chassis.

Suspension at the front is by a transverse spring, whilst quarter-elliptic springs are fitted at the rear. The price of this chassis is £105. Van bodies, approximately 4 ft. long, 4 ft. high and 4 ft. wide are fitted, and cost £139 10s. rough-painted ; a figure at which they represent extremely good value. A very intersting special exhibit is the vehicle known as the "Greyhound Express," which is intended primarily for the conveyance of greyhounds, and has a capacity for three dogs. The interior is ventilated by louvres along the top of the body, whilst a separate compartment beneath the floor provides accommodation for the odds and ends attendant upon a trainer's outfit. A four-cylindered engine is fitted to the 13-35 h.p. chassis. The valves are of the side-by-side type, and the cylinders are cast en bloc with the top half of the crankcase ; the bore and stroke are 65 mm. and 10 ram. respectively, giving a capacity of about 13 litres. Like the smaller unit, the crankshaft is mounted on two ball bearings, splash lubrication being employed throughout. An enclosed propeller shaft conveys the drive to an mulerslung worm-driven rear axle; semi-elliptic springs are used at the front and full cantilevers at the rear, shock absorbers Leing fitted all round.
