aNE of the most successful conversion sets for. altering an ordinary ir-wheeler into a rigid six-wheeler mble of carrying much heavier loads pneumatic tyres and affording other vantages, including freedom from tiding, is the Longframe, which can fitted to a number of makes of chas; and in this particular instance is 3wu used in conjunction with a 25t. Chevrolet chassis, which is tripped with a one-man-operated Don bus body made by Frank Alien, d. There is accommodation in this hide for 20 persons.

The fitting of this extension is quite aide. The chassis frame is drilled, and the extension members are bolted or' riveted to it. Longitudinal and croes-stays are bolted into position, making the entire assembly a strong and rigid vehicle.

It has been proved that the running expenses of such a machine are surprisingly low, the consumption of petrol and oil being only slightly in excess of that of the ordinary four-wheeled vehicle, but the tyre mileage is improved owing to the more even distribution of the weight over the six-wheels,

Due to the principle adopted, the chassis, when converted, pulls but does not actually carry the additional load, and owing to the patent system of bal-' aneed springing the stresses are , distributed equally.

As regards the braking, the extension incorporates a brake.compensating mechanism which is claimed greatly to increase the efficiency of the standard brake supplied. There is one point in connection with the braking which at first may not be realised. This is, there being no braking through the extension wheels, these cannot possibly be held, and, consequently, there is no tendeng for them to skid.

With the particular chassis employed the tax. is £26 per annum, as the Unladen weight has not been unduly increased.
