Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AWIDE range of vehicles is shown on this stand, ranging from a 3035-cwt. chassis to a recently introduced 20-seater all-weather coach. With a 12-ft. wheelbase sufficient accommodation is provided for 20 passengers to be seated in comfort, with plenty of leg room for all. A low-loading straight frame is employed (the height of the top of the frame loaded is 261 ins.) and the bonnet and dash are very nicely streamlined into the body, which has a reasonably high waistline, thus providing an excellent general appearance.

The particular coach shown has two doors only, which, used in conjunction with an Auster-Page patent head fitting (with cast-aluminium-alloy body and door pillars) allows the head to be folded completely down, when the cant rail divides and drops in three sections on the top of the frame.

The power unit of this chassis has a capacity of slightly more than 24 litres and provides 35 b.h.p. at 2,000 r.p.m. Side-by-side valves are employed in a cylinder block separate from the crankcase. The oil is circulated by a pump which forces the lubricant to pockets formed above the main bearings and to troughs into which dip the big-end bearings of the connecting rods. A fabric-faced cons clutch and fourforwsrd-speed gearbox are mounted unitwise with t h a engine, the gears being -operated by a centrally disposed lever working in a gate—an unusual feature for control.

The brake shoes are placed side by side in drums attached to the rear wheels, the pedal-operated shoes acting on separate and slightly smaller drums than those used for the hand brake. There is no compensation for the brakes, but ample provision is made for exact adjustment, with the adjusting Pieces located in convenient positions. Throughout the :whole of the chassiswork care has been taken to make all details comply with the Ministry of Transport regulations, so that the vehicle can be used anywhere without fear of contravening any special regulations.

A 30-35-cwt. chassis is shown fitted with a 30-owt. van body, which is claimed to provide an abnormal capacity for a vehicle taxed at £26. The interior dimensions of the body are 11 ft. 6 ins, long by 5 ft. 10 ins, wide and 6 ft. 6 ins, high, giving a total capacity of 442 cub. ft. The loading height of the platform is 30i ins. laden.

The 21-ton model is now an allBritish job throughout. New features are a Ferodo-facod cone clutch and a British four-speed gearbox, whirl incorporates a special layout for the main and lay shafts, in order that both sets of gears may be visible when the cover is removed.

A forward-drive 2,1t model is shown, a special feature being the accessibility Provided for the engine by the hinged sides of the cab. Actually these sides hinge outwards and take with them the mudguards and part of the platform, an arrangement that does not interfere in any way with the load.
