Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

pHERE are not many concerns in _L. the industry whose activities cover both the private car and commercial vehicle sides. It is, therefore, interestng to observe the products which are acing displayed on the Citron stand. Dm of the attractions is the CitrothiKegresse, which is the type of car which first crossed the Sahara. In this case the vehicle shown is equipped with a new improved type of KegresseElinstin endless band attachment. This levice now gives positive drive, the studs in the band meshing with suitable holes in the driving pulleys. In addition, this vehicle is equipped as a cross-country wireless machine.

A Citron-Kegresse is also shown as a platform lorry, and here again the Ilinstin positive-drive band attachment Es employed. The engine is rated at 11.4 h.p., having a bore of 68 mm. end a stroke of 100 mm. The drive is taken through a single dry-plate clutch and a three-speed gearbox with central change to the bevels of the final drive. There is a two-speed track-driving auxiliary gear used in conjunction with the gearbox—this doubles the -ratios available. Included in the design is an optional differential-locking device. The capa

city of the chassis is 16 cwt., but this includes the weight of the body. Of particular interest to the farmer is the dual-purpose four-seater. This is a 12-24 h.p. chassis equipped with an allSteel touring-car body, in which the rear seat cushions and squabs can easily be removed, whilst the back panel is hinged so that it forms a tailboard, which can quickly be lowered to faoilititate loading and unloading. With the hood and side curtains in position the vehicle forms a small wagon, whereas in the form of a four seater it is a touring car of normal appearance. For those who wish to study the design of the 12-24 h.p, chassis, one of these is shown bare. It has an engine of 70 ram. bore and 100 man stroke, with aluminium pistons, thermosiphonic water circulation and pressurefed lubrication. The gearbox gives three speeds, and the final drive is by bevel gears. Four-wheel brakes are employed and the suspension is by semi-elliptic springs all round.

The lubrication of the chassis is on the oil-gun principle and the user is well studied, as is shown by the provision on the running boards of concealed compartments for the battery and kit of tools. The facia board carries the magneto switch, ammeter. controls for air strangler, slow-running adjustment° and petrol feed. A useful point in connection with the petrol tank is that a reserve supply of one gallon of fuel is retained, but it can be released at the option of the driver. as and when required. The wheelbase of this usefnl little chassis is 9 ft. 5 ins. and the track 4 ft. 0+ in., whilst the price of the chassis, as shown, complete with tyres, etc., is .1155.
