MWO 'taxicabs of the familiar Scot1. land Yard type, together with a 15-cwt. Beardmore van, constitute the exhibit displayed by this company. The Beardmore cab has achieved a very excellent reputation for reliability and economy, and there are many _hundreds of . this make running. on the streets of London . and elsewhere. The chassis has been steadily improved since it was first offered on the market ; most careful records have been kept at the service depots-during the pest four years, and .these have been analysed in conjunction with the factory, and improvenients carried out as required, , so that the modern vehicle can be said to embody the experience of many years.

The engine is a four-cylindered monobloc with detachable head, a bore of

3i ins, and a stroke of 41 ins. It develops 21 b.h.p. at '1,500 r.p.m., three bearings are used for the crankshaft, and the chrome-vanadium steel inlet and exhaust valves are interchangeable. The ignition is effected by Bosch magneto and the oil pump supplies lubricant under pressure to the main bearings,

camshaft, and big and small-end bearings. A centrifugal pump circulates the cooling water through a radiator of the gill-tube.pattern, which is mounted on the front cross-member, where it is not subjected to racking. The cone clutch is faced with ftictic fabric, and the separate four-speed gea

box has right-hand control. A pr Peller shaft of the open type takes ti drive to a full-floating back axle wit bevel gearing. Both brakes act on tl rear wheels, the hand broke havin separate drums. A nickel-ehrom, steel stamping is employed for the froi axle, and the frame isof channe section steel. In the ease a the neat 15-cwt. van similar engine is employed, and in i main characteristics this chassis is ti same as that of the taxicab, and, i fact, its design is based upon th: chassis. The wheelbase is 10 ft. 6 in: as compared with the 9 ft. of the tax cab, and the overall length is 12 f 7 ins.; the weight of the chassis con plete is approximately 19 cwt.

The van provides ample loadin .space, the interior length behind ti driver's seat being 7 ft., whilst ti width is 4 ft. 6 ins. The body is 4 nice appearance, with a well curve roof, and the driver is adequately pri tected by a three-piece screen.
