Chard (Somerset) Town Council proposes to purchase a fire-engine, with ladder and first-aid appliances, at an estimated cast of about 1845. The suggestion is that the town should bear half the cost and that the balance should be contributed jointly by such neighbouring parishes as may come into the scheme. Erith Urban District Council requires a motor ambulance to accommodate two stretcher patients and an attendant, and tenders have to be delivered not later than November 26th. The chief officer of the Fire Brigade and Ambulance Service, Fire Station, Erith, is in a position to give further particulars of the council's requirements. Sheffield Corporation has decided la extend the garage at King Edward Hospital at an estimated cost of £920.

Clayton Wagons, Ltd., has recently received an order from the Claypole Rural District Council for a 6-7-ton overtype steam wagon, fitted with hydraulically operated three-way tipping body. An example of this type of wagon is to be seen on the stand occupied by the company at Olympia.

Torrington Rural District Council has appointed a committee to meet members of the Torrington Town Council regarding the proposed joint purchase of a new fire-engine which it is suggested shall be provided at an approximate cost of 1600, the rural council to provide two-thirds and the town council one-third of the cost.

In a recent issue, we drew attention to the fact that the tramways department of the Edinburgh Corporation is contemplating the purchase of a number of additional buses, and tenders are now being sought for the supply of 20 buses and three motor medics. These have to be delivered not later than
