• French aulhorities will blame the Channel Tunnel fire on arson, according to press reports. The French judicial inquiry into the fire will publish its report in the next few days.
• The DFDS group has acquired a non-controlling shareholding in the privately owned cold-storage and temperature-controlled distribution company John T Howard.
• English Welsh and Scottish Railway has named a new Freight locomotive Freight Transport Association.
• Port Ramsgate is to spend around £1 m on improving harbour facilities and a new duty-free shop.
