THE first mobile library for Bristol Corporation has just been delivered by Henlys Ltd. of -01dmixon, Westonsuper-Mare, the vehicle having a body frame designed specially to avoid "whip." caused by the load being carried only at the sides. The library is mounted on a Bedford SB passenger chassis of 18 ft. wheelbase.
Designed to serve areas of the City which lack convenient access to branch libraries, the new mobile unit, which is about 30 ft. long. carries 2,500 books. These are in shelves Which -arc, completely removable to facilitate repairs in the event of accident damage to the body. The hardwood body frame is panelled in light alloy and the translucent plastics roof panel is augmented by eight 20 w. fluorescent tubes.
The public enter the vehicle through folding doors fitted with draught screens.
