I.A.E. Members Visit Dagenham.

At the invitation of Sir Percival Perry, K.B.E., a party of some 240 members and graduates of the Institution of Automobile Engineers visited the Dagenham works of the Ford Motor Co., Ltd., on Thursday, May 14.

The party travelled down by river on a Diesel-engined vessel, and were most agreeably entertained by a broadcast commentary on London's river and its historic buildings, etc. At Dagenham, the party was received by Mr. A. R. Smith, the general manager of the company, and then made a complete tour of the extensive shops, blast furnaces, foundry, etc., in which about 8,000 people are employed.

Whitsun Number of "The Motor."

The Whitsun Number of The Motor now on sale (published on Tuesday, May 19), is an exceptionally good issue and contains between 60 and '70 pages of reading matter, eight pages being in photogravure. Holiday aspects include a series of 50-mile runs to popular resorts, with sketch maps, and an article on taking the car abroad, with two suggested Continental tours, whilst ownerdriver features a 1936 cars and garage planning for future motoring needs are other important subjects dealt with.
