SIR ALFRED READ has been elected president of the Institute of Transport for the year commencing October 1 next. He is chairman and managing director of Coast Lines, Ltd., and is a member of the Port of London Authority and the Transport Advisory Council. A foundation member of The Institute, he served on the council from 1419-1922, and was vice-president from 1927-1930.
