Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

mid-range nine and 16speed Ecomid gearboxes. As the medium-duty market is relatively small both companies expect savings from the deal.

While there is no volume commitment on either side, it is expected that ZF will buy about 12,000 items a year (gears and shafts) from Renault which in turn will take around 3,000 complete transmissions.

The nine and 16-speed Ecomid is standard in the Maxter with Renault's own B9 and 818 as options.

It is also possible that the lighter nine-speed Ecomid will be used on the lightweight Manager trac tive unit in place of the B9. Renault says its own transmissions are better suited to heavier vehicles; they will remain as standard equipment over 35 tonnes and as options for the Maxter.

"This is a straight forward deal and does not include any cross shareholding between the companies," says Renault.

All the details should be finalised in the Autumn when both companies will have made the final decision on the deal.
