Haulier's contract threatened by theft of four Multilifts

• A stunned Gloucestershire haulier is desperately appealing for the recovery of four eight-wheeler Mika vehicles stolen the night before he was set to clinch a £2m, five-year contract transporting household waste for Cory Environmental.
Eamonn McGurk, director of Keyway of Gloucester, says the 8x4s were stolen between 17:30hrs on 14 January and 06:1 5hrs on 15 January, from Monk Meadow Trading Estate in Hernpsted, Gloucester.
However, he reveals that nearly four hours later the contract with Cory Environmental was signed despite the loss. McGurk explains that five Multilifts are needed on the contract so "they just have to be found. There is no other long-term alternative. We have to honour the deal."
Keyway is insured for the loss of the four vehicles but his cover does not extend to the hiring of other vehicles as replacements.
McGurk estimates this will cost the company 22,000 per vehicle per week.
A financial reward "without limit" is available for the return of the vehicles.
