Following a collision nine-month-old baby was dragged from overturned car in a flooded ditch by a Norwich operator. Lucia Cockroft reports.
THE OWNER OF Norwich haulage company MG European has helped with the roadside rescue of a nine-month-old baby.
Graham Death was driving his Mercedes C270 when it collided with a Citroen at Halve rgate, near Yarmouth in Norfolk.
The Citroen veered off the road into a waterlogged ditch and came to a halt upside down.
D'eath says he could hear a female voice screaming "don't let my baby die"— he clambered down the bank to help pull three adults and a baby out of the car: "The mother of the baby managed to open the door and escape but the baby was submerged for five minutes. He wasn't breathing when he came out, but by that stage a doctor was at the scene and gave the child mouth-to-mouth resuscitation."
The baby is believed to be in a critical but stable position following the incident on 21 January. D'eath adds:"As soon as I got news that the baby was OK it was as if someone had lifted a tonne weight off my shoulder."
