• Belgian trailer maker Van Hool has appointed Essex Trailer Sales as its UK distributor.
The West Thurrock-based company has an established sales force, is very active in the trailer refurbishment business and is an ISO9oo2 accredited trailer repairer, says sales director, David George. He aims to sell 300 Van Hools this year.
George doesn't underestimate the challenge that the British trailer market poses in the current climate. "The price of new equipment
has hit an all-time low," he remarks. "Van Hool is a premium manufacturer, however, it's been around for a good few years, and its products are tried and tested.
"British operators have been cutting back on purchasing new trailers for the past couple of years— fortunately for us that's kept our refurbishment operation buoyant—and many of them have now got to renew their fleets," says George. "Demand should improve over the next 12 months."
