A late start for work as I have a dentist appointment in my home town of Bude. My first drop of fertiliser is at a farm in Hartland, North Devon—good access and a big yard make all the difference. The fertiliser is loaded into half-tonne sacks which are offloaded four at a time. The farm has a Matbro four-wheel-drive forklift, which means finish in half-an-hour. From the farm I run empty to South Molton, about 20 miles. At the yard there are three loads waiting for Kent, Dagenham and Jarrow. Luckily I get the Jarrow load, which is one of my favourite runs. Hit the road at about 14;00hrs with a seven-hour run ahead. First break is at a layby by Measharn where I brew a cuppa and have a rest. Travelling later in the evening makes for a good, clear run. Spend the night at the factory, where it's safe to park up, and crash into bed for a well earned kip.
