• Maintenance problems have led Scottish TC Michael Betts to cut the authorisation on the licence held by Johnstonebased Angus Metals from three vehicles to one. Betts also suspended the company's licence for two weeks.

• A bid for a new two-vehicle licence by Roy Middleton, based at Houghton-le-Spring, Tyne & Wear, was refused when he failed to appear at a Leeds public inquiry Fines cut • Fines for tachograph offences on Staunton-based UK and European Haulage have been cut by £2000 at Gloucester Crown Court. Judge Carole Hagen said the fines were excessive.
