B.M.C. in Portugal AUST1N and Morris commercial vehicles and cars are to be built in Portugal by Industria de Montagem de Autornoveis LDA, in a new factory being built at Setubal, a port 25 miles south of Lisbon.
The newly formed company is a joint enterprise of B.M.C.'s two long-established distributors—J. J. Goncalves, Suers., and A.M. Almeida, Lda., in co-operation with B.M.C.
The new plant will have a production capacity of 600 vehicles a month; commercial-vehicle output is expected to start around the middle of this year.
