THE LEYLAND HERITAGE (Temple Press in association with the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust, £8.95) is a well illustrated account of British Leyland's history. The author, Alan Thomas, has gone to great pains to lead the reader through the labyrinth of BL's career.
The book's 144 pages are liberally illustrated with prints of Leyland vehicles from a 1919 char-a-banc to the Sherpa, Roadtrain and Constructor. This is not only a good read for the historian, although the author's historical interests are not • disguised: it is also a reference book for those who have lost trace of Leyland's roots and mergers.
Little seems to have been missed in the text, but if it has, I cannot conceive that that was intentional. And by today's standards, The Leyland Heritage is not expensive to buy. IS Distributed by Newnes Books, 84-88 The Centre, Fe!tham, Middlesex, TW13 4BH.
