A PLAN to re-organise the National Freight Corporation into a part privately-owned company is said to be contained in the Tory election manifesto.
Under the scheme the NFC would become 51per cent owned by the Government with other 49 per cent held by private shareholders — much the same as BP.
The plan has been formulated to prevent the corporation becoming denationalised and re-nationalised under successive governments as happened to the steel industry in the 1950s and 1960s.
