Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• As weighbridges used by Tate and Lyle vehicles are rarely long enough to accommodate a maximum length artic, the company is having an axle-lifting system fitted for the rearmost axle of three-axle semi-trailers being built for it by Primrose. With this feature, the complete outfits can be accommodated on shorter weighbridges and errors through double weighing avoided.

The third axles of the bogie on the semitrailers, which will have hopper bodies made by Bowyer Bros. (Congleton) Ltd., are self-steered to improve manoeuvrability and the lifting mechanisms are powered by pairs of Dunlop air bellows. The axle lift adds £116 to the trailer price.
