Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

QBJECTIONS by Messrs. J. Laurie and Co., Hamilton, Lanarks, who stated that a proposed service from East Kilbride to Glasgow would cause abstraction, failed at Glasgow last week when the Central S.M.T. Co., Ltd., made a successful application for the facility.

The service, which would go via Busby and Clarkston, was needed to replace the existing Maxwellton Avenue route, which would be closed in June, said Mr. John Whittle, assistant traffic manager of Central S.M.T. He denied the suggestion that the new route would cater for a larger area than the existing one.

Mr. H. Black, manager of Laurie, said that Central S.M.T. were seeking to enter an area served by his firm. Laurie ran the only service connecting the east and west sections of East Kilbride. The proposed route would abstract traffic, he claimed. .

The application was granted in full by the Scottish Traffic Commissioners.
