Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AN application for two tours to Ayr. starting from East Kilbride and Burnbank, Hamilton, for people who wished a day at the sea or at the races, met with strong opposition from the objectors, Western S.M.T. and Central S.M.T., at Glasgow last week.

Mr. James Forsyth for J. Laurie and Co., the applicants, revealed that they had operated request tours to Ayr 52 times in the past year.

Mr. R. Farrell, for the objectors, stated that there were adequate facilities available for tours to Ayr from East Kilbride and Hamilton but not from Burnbank. James Craig, hiring and tours department of S.M.T., said that in any one day there were tours to Ayr from the area but that these tours were advertised only as mystery tours. He also said they were now going to advertise them as tours to Ayr.

Mr. Forsyth, for Laurie, commented that this was a strange coincidence. The Scottish Traffic Commissioners granted the application but stated that the bus must carry a conductor.

BRIGHTON ROAD IMPROVED THE seven-mile stretch of continuous dual carriageway on the A23 London-Brighton road, between Bolney Common and the Crawley by-pass, was opened to traffic for Easter.
