ACONCRETE-MAKING concern is looking forward to the busy summer season with alarm" because of the lack of haulage.

This was said last week by Mr. Joseph Harrison, director of Edenhall Concrete Products, Ltd., Penrith, in support of an application for a short-term licence for five vehicles during the summer.

The application was made by Mr. Thomas Swainson of Brunswick Road, Penrith, before the Northern licensing Authority in Carlisle.

Mr. Harrison added: "There was a serious shortage this time last year 'of haulage vehicles. Some sites were completely stopped. I don't know what will happen this year because we are doubling our output."

Representatives of Cumberland County Council and Harrison Lime Works, Ltd. (Cumberland), also said there was a great shortage of haulage vehicles during the summer. Mr. Swainson said: " Instead of disappointing customers, I want to oblige them during the busy season."

The application was granted.
