A 39-vehicle unit based at Lostock Gralam, near Northwich, has gone to Harris Road Services, Ltd., Plantation House, Fenchurch Street, London, E.C.3. The lorries have a total unladen weight of 1991 tons, and there are II trailers (251 tons).

Eighteen lorries (62 tons) comprise the latest purchase made by Messrs F. Milner and Son, Brewery Lane, Lancaster. Eleven of these (34 tons) were made over by Mr. F. Milner. of the same address, five (2l.; tons) by the Warrington Warehousing Co., Seven Stars Yard, Warrington. one (51 tons) by Mr. R. Ausobsky, Briefly Mount. Arnside, and one (; ton) by Mr. J. Bradley, Albion Mill, Brantley Street, .Accringt on.

A repeat purchase, this time of five lorries (161 tons), has been made by Mr. J. Keenan, Irwell Chambers West, 6 Fazackerley Street, Liverpool. 3. Mr. J. W. Ratcliffe, Low Bank Road Garage, Ashton-in-Makerficld, who has bought another two lorries (6 tons), has assigned more vehicles: one (3 tons) to Messrs. H. Jackson and F. Schofield (Broadticld Transport Co.), 22 Cartridge Street, Heywood; one (31 tons) to J. Dyson (Tcamowners), Ltd., 14 Upper Harrington Street. Liverpool. 8: and an articulated outfit (41 tons) to Mr. S. Cooper, 144 Ferry Road, Eastham, Wirral

Two articulated outfits (141 tons) have been made over to Prince Transport (Wariington). Ltd.. 44 Arpley Street. Warrington. by Mr. T. H. Price, of the same address.

Messrs. T. S. and A. McLean (Swains Transport), 372 Washway Road, Sale, have transferred six lorries (321 tons) to Swains Transport. Ltd., of the same address.

W.E.S. Transport, Ltd.. Transport Yard, Aston Hill, Hawardcn. near Chester, have taken over an articulated outfit (71 tons) from Messrs. Millers Motor Services, Brownhouse Road. Wheclion, near ChorleY. and a lorry (51 tons) from Mr. P. A. Goring, 49 Brackenbury Road, Preston. Mr. J. Shutticworth, 2 Wellington Road, Bowerham. Lancaster. has also taken over a lorry (51 eons) from Mr. Goring.

Millers Motor Services have sold a trailer (21 tons) to J. Walsh (Darwcn), Ltd.. Bull Hill, Darwen. who have also bought a lorry (5 tons) from Mr. L. Gleave, Holly Bank, Audlem, near Crewe.

Messrs. Jones Bros.. Deacon Road. Widnes, and Mr. J. Swain, Rock Cottage, Middletown, near Welshpool, have each taken over a lorry from Mr. Gleavc. The former's weighs 31 tons unladen and the other, 3 tons, Three lorries (22; tons) bought by Hacketts Haulage, Ltd., 229 Cross Lane. Salford, 5, have been sold; two (141 tons) to J. W. FieWsend, Ltd., of the same address, and the other (71 tons) to P. McCallum and Sons. Ltd., Barrows Green Road, Derby Road, Widnes. Direct purchases have been made by Mr. G. 0. L. Davies, 10 Borthyn, Ruthin. Denbighshire, of one lorry (31 tons): Reliance Garage (Manchester), Ltd., 123 Gorton Road, Reddish, Stockport, one (6,! tons): Mr. D. Welsby, 184 Bolton Road, Walkden, one (3 tons); Exors. of Y. Tort, Ltd., Liverpool Road. Patricroft. Manchester, two (101 tons); and Veevers Bros. (Transport), Ltd., The Beeches, Whalley Road, Langho, near Blackburn, two (9 tons).

Mr. W. Morris, 60 Queen Street, Wigan, who has bought three lorries (141 tons), has transferred one (4 tons) to Mr. R. A. Cropper, Sledbrook Farm, Enfield Street, Pemberton, Wigan. and one (5 tons) to Mr. T. Ashton, 82 Whclley, Wigan. H. Nuttall and Sons, Ltd., 195 Middleton Road, Heywood, have aold one (51 tons) of the two (11; tons) vehicles they recently purchased, to Lloyds Trans. port and Warehousing Co. (Manchester), Ltd:. 183 Water Street, Manchester, 3.

YORKSHIRE Another six lorries have been acquired by Parkers Luxury Tours. Ltd., York Road, Doncaster. Four of these were bought by the company's Doncaster office, and two by Parkers Luxury Tours' office in Barnsley.

Two-vehicle purchases have been made by Mr. I. H. Dickenson, The Poplars. Bolton-on-Dearne, near Rotherharn, and Mr. G. Wilkinson, Thornboroufth Dene, Leybourn.

One vehicle has gone to William Braisby and Sons, Ltd., Old Potters Garage, Goole, one to Scarr and Sons, Ltd.' Brayton, Selby, and one to W. Carr and Sons (Haulage), Ltd., Brunteliffe, near Leeds.

WEST MIDLANDS

Six vehicles, including two articulated outfits (291 tons). have gone to Mr. R. Millichamp, 116 Frederick Road, Stockford. ft is a repeat purchase, Red House Garage Co.. Ltd., Cromwell Street. Coventry. have acquired another five lorries (141 tons). Repeat purchases have also been made by Mr. F. Edwards, Salter's Lane. Loppington, Wcm (one vehicle-31 tons); and Messrs. C. and L. Gordon, 29 Gower Street, Longton (one 3 tons). Two lorries (91 tons) bought by Mr. G. D. James. Foundry Road, Wellington, have been assigned to Wrekin Roadways, Ltd., King Street, Wellington. A lorry (31 tons) has been made over to Mr. C. House, Buglawton, Congleton, by Messrs. W. P. Barlow and Son, 28 Charles Street, Biddulph.

EAST MIDLANDS An articulated vehicle has been made over to Messrs. Gray's Transport Services, 4 Reynolds Street, Cleethorpes, by Turners (Fordham), Ltd., Fordham. Gray's Transport have transferred a drop-sided lorry to Mr. D. F. Fox, 8 De Aston Square, Scunthorpe.

LONDON AND HOME COUNTIES Lee's Direct Transport (Enfield), Ltd., 372 Hertford Road, Enfield, have had a further two vehicles (6 tons 7 cwt.) made over to them by Mr. Percy D. Sleeman, 323 South Ealing Road, London. W.4. The lorries are a Commer and a Scddon, both 7-tonners.

Messrs. C. Hitch and Sons, 49 Meadow Walk, Maidstone, have taken over another two vehicles, both boxvans.

Among successful tenderers for units in list 9 are Messrs. Madgwick and Son, Haslemere. Surrey, who will be taking over five lorries (13 tons). Three are based at Bermondsey (unit 5885), and.thc others at Fratton, Portsmouth (6115). Three Special Traffics vans (8 tons) have gone to Mr. J. Wood, 4 Oakwood Avenue. London, N.I4. They made up Bermondsey unit 6048. Another Elermondsey unit (6145), comprising two lorries (6 tons), has been bought by Messrs. R. and J. Newton, 296 Kingston Road, Ewell, Surrey.

Southern Cross Garages, Barnet By-poss, North Mimms, Hatfield, have successfully tendered for Bethnal Green unit 5882 (two vehicles-5 tons). A Luton van (3 tons) based at Croydon will be operated by Mr. T. Curtis, 194 Kingsley Road, Hounslow. The unit concerned was 6070.

One-vehicle units have gone to Dowell's Transport. Ltd., Dagenham (Greenwich 6173-5 tons), and Richman Removals, Ltd., 21a Duncan Road, Gillingham (Minster, linnet, 6118-3 tons).
