Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• by Kevin Swallow The three-day Recycling &, Waste Management Exhibition at the Birmingham NEC had the potential to be an early victim of the fuel demos, despite holding a geographical advantage over the Institute of Waste Management show on the Devon coastline.

But many new pieces of kit were conspicuous by their absence as many exhibitors took advantage of the established !WM show (CM 22-28 June) to display their debutantes. A few exhibitors felt that the show would be affected by the dispute and the Tuesday morning traffic was threadbare up the M40 as all surrounding areas to the Midlands had run dry by Wednesday morning.

The show seemed a little quiet but the NEC's excellent rail link provided potential visitors with an adequate transport substitute so they could support the fuel demos and still get to the show. For those who travelled by rail from further afield it saved time and that liquid gold.
