ARECENT announcement by Peugeot (England), Ltd., of 75, Filmer Road, Fulham, London, S.W.6, is to the effect that certain commercialvehicle prices have been reduced, whilst a new model has been added to the range of French-built vehicles marketed in this country.

In the ease of the 5-cwt. van and the 5-cwt. lorry the price of either complete vehicle is now £125, when finished in priming colour ready for decoration to the customer's taste. This represents a reduction of £10. The chassis employed for these vehicles has a 695 c.c. four-cylindered engine with side-by-side valves, thernio-siphon cooling and magneto ignition. The drive is through a single-plate clutch to a threespeed gearbox, which forms a unit with the rear axle. All four road wheels are braked.

Two entirely new models have as their basis a 10 h.p. chassis, known as Model 201. This has a wheelbase of 8 ft. 0i in., a track of 3 ft. 9i ins. and a ground clearance of 81 ins. The four-cylindered engine has a bore of 63 mm. and a stroke of 90 mm., giving a piston-swept volume of 1,122 c.c. and an R.A.C. rating of 9.8 h.p. In the main the power unit follows standard Peugeot praetice ; it is of the side-valve pattern and has aluminium-alloy pistons. The fan and dynamo are driven by a common belt.

Delco-Remy ignition is standardized ; it is interesting to note that a wide margin of safety in regard to the battery capacity is provided; the circuit operates at 12 volts and there are two batteries, each of 60 amp.-hours capa city. A starter-motor is provided as standard.

A centrally placed, ball-mounted lever controls the three-speed-and-reverse gearbox, to which power is taken by a single-plate Clutch. The overall gear ratios are :—Top, 6.25 to 1; second,

11.76 to 1; first, 21.95 to 1. Final drive is by worm quid wheel. _ At the front of the chassis a transverse semi-elliptic spring is employed ; quarter-elliptic springs, anchored to the rearward extremities:of the frame, provide the other two points of suspension. Low-pressure tyres are standardized.

In delivery-van form the vehicle costs £208, whilst with the commercial saloon body it is priced at £215. The van has two doors at the fremt and a double door at the rear. The saloon, which will appeal principally to commercial travellers, has two doors at the front, whilst the back of the body opens for loading and unloading. The rear compartment can be used for passengers

or goods. In the latter._ case the cushions and squabs can be taken out easily in a couple of minutes.
