Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

T"-passenger-transport department of Nottingham Corporation is, we learn, about to put into service a new six-wheeled Karrier-Clough 57-seater trolley-bus. The chassis is the E6/DD6, handled by Clough, Smith and Co. Ltd., 36, Victoria Street, London, S.Vir.1. In addition to air-operated brakes upon the four wheels of the bogie there is an eddy-current brake, independent of the motor. When this is applied it retards the bus down to about 3 m.p.h., and the same application of the pedal brings into operation the air brake, which finally brings it to rest.

The enclosed-staircase, double-saloon body is by Park Royal Coachworks, Ltd., Abbey Road, Park Royal, London, N.W.10. The side framing of the body is diagonally strutted to convey to the chassis all stresses transmitted through the overhead gear. The last-named is carried by a duralumin structure, isolating it from the roof. The cab is of the full-width variety, and a special air inlet is provided 'to conduct. air to the resistances.

Aluminium sheeting of 18 gauge is used for the panels and roof, steel being employed for the staircase stringers and risers. White enamel is the finish of the upper-roof interior, whilst the lower roof is covered with washable scratchproof Rexine as regards the central portion, the curved sides being grained and varnished. The lining panels are finished in Rexine ; all finishers are of polished walnut.

Doverite is used for covering the grab handles, hand-rails and stanchions. Park Royal X-type seatsare used throughout, these Oaeing upholstered in hand-buffed hide; .bUt the backs are covered with Rexine. Route-number boxes are provided front and rear, and there is an illuminated blind-type destination indicator at the front. In addition, a destination box is mountedon the near side and lighted from the lower saloon. This position is convenient for boarding passengers.

Half-drop and fixed windows are employed in alternate positions in both saloons; behind the driver is a sliding window, and two spring-roller blinds are installed behind the front bulkhead.
