The Bolzano plant first manufactured military vehicles in the 1970s and now turns out hardware ranging from simple delivery van-based 4x4 troop movers and armoured cars to personnel carriers and tanks.
Make no mistake, although the factory is robot-free and works on the oldfashioned philosophy that hand-built is best, this is an extremely hi-tech operation.
Gearboxes and pretty much everything else are manufactured from scratch, using heavy machinery.
