deputy chairman of ICI, is one of the five non-GMC members of the General Motors European Advisory Council whose membership was revealed in London last week by GMC chairman Richard C. Gerstenberg. The other four are prominent German, French and Danish business men and consultants. Incompany members are Reuben R. Jensen, chairman of GM Overseas Corpn, Thomas A. Murphy, vice-chairman of GMC, and ex-Vauxhall chief Alex Rhea, who is executive vicepresident of GM's Overseas Caron. Mr Rhea will be chairman of the new advisory council, whose task is to provide General Motors with advice on economic, business, governmental, industrial and social developments in Europe which may affect the Corporation's plans. Answering a CM question at the GMC function in London last week, Mr Gerstenberg agreed that the environmental pressures on the vehicle industry had been a strong factor in the decision to set up the advisory council.
