Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by John Darker • In sultry weather at Newcastle-underLyme, 146 entrants were dealt with efficiently on the corporation's central depot premises at Knutton Lane. Though there is adequate space for the manoeuvring tests on the site there is insufficient parking space and volunteer motorcyclists conducted the contestants to one of the four lorry parks provided in the vicinity.

As an experiment-and it seems to have pleased the organizers-the larger, slower vehicles were dealt with before the smaller. By 2.30 p.m. nearly 100 vehicles had been through all the tests. The mayoral party optimistically arrived much too early for the prizegiving, and departed for another engagement.

The sizeable entries to the smaller category vehicles occupied the rest of the afternoon but the prize-giving, by Mrs. Norman Salmon, mayoress of Newcastleunder-Lyme was completed by 5.30 p.m.

D. Bradshaw, of Petrofina Ltd., did well to lose only 50 penalty points in class E2, His team mate, B. Stacey, was second with 100, but third place was won by J. G. Stainsby, of Shell-Mex and BP Ltd.

Another good performance was that of G. Nevatt, of Quicklit and Quartz, with a score of 57 in class El. Class Fl (four entries) was monopolized by BR drivers from Wrexham and Birmingham. K.

Bentley, from "Brum", won with 128 penalty points.
