Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by Ron Cater

• At Southall on Sunday Ted Teer and his organizers excelled themselves-one of the country's biggest entries was run off and the prize-giving finished by 5 p.m. Despite a flood of late starters which caused some chaos in the marshalling area, all the big artics had gone through the tests well before 11 a.m. and the results of the competitors' efforts were posted a long time before lunch. What a pity drivers don't pay the same attention to detail as did Mr. Teer. Many good performances were spoiled because regulations had not been studied.

Among the best was the Southall champion for the past three years, W. O'Brien (Express Dairy), who, however, was beaten into second place by G. Griffiths (Graham Adams Ltd.). Mr_ Griffiths gave a very polished performance with his Karrier Bantam. These two competitors' respective scores-60 and 35were not good enough, however, to give an improvement percentage great enough to beat this year's winner. E. Oakley (Rank Film Process) driving a CA Bedford van in class A, who improved on last year's performance by 61 per cent.
