UVAN COOK'S, of Peckham, London, have purchased Crosshallage, Ltd., of Liverpool, which is now operating as Evan Cook (Liverpool), Ltd., from offices at 1 Crosshall Street, Liverpool, I.

This acquisition, which includes a number of modern prime movers, trailers and rigid transporters, will considerably strengthen Evan Cook's regular road ferry services to Ireland and the Continent as well as their already expanding general goods traffic to and from main industrial centres.

Power Braking for Standard Vans

A POWER brake servo made by PI Clayton Dewandre, Ltd., is now available, with a conversion kit, for installation on all Standard vans and pick-ups. The unit can be obtained from all Standard-Triumph distributors and agents at a cost of £13 10s, plus a fitting charge. It is claimed that with the servo fitted, braking performance is improved appreciably, and the effort required to produce any given degree of retardation is cut to almost half. Provision is made that in the event of vacuum failure, normal hydraulic braking is available.

Express Service Sought

AJOINT application by Yelloway Motor Services, Ltd.. and Ribble Motor Services, Ltd., was strongly supported by the public at Blackpool on Tuesday. The companies wanted to run new express services between Oldham and Fleetwood via Rochdale, Rawtenstall, Preston, Lytham and Blackpool. Two journeys 'd day were involved, one in the morning and one in the evening in each direction. The period of operation was to be from the Saturday before Whitsuntide to the end of the Blackpool illuminations,

EXPRESS APPEAL TURNED DOWN

rE Minister of Transport has dismissed, with costs, appeals by Mr, Richard Philip Hardie against the refusal of the Northern Traffic Commissioners to grant him express licences for three services to the Team Valley Trading Estate, There was no proof, says the Minister, that existing services were inadequate.

The company, who export 23 per cent. of their products have, over the past 10 years, increased their export turnover thirteen-fold.
