In an attempt to cut fuel consumption figures and running costs, Irvine, North Ayrshirebased Maxi Haulage has signed a three-year deal with Volvo to use the manufacturer's Fuel Management Service (FMS) on its 21-vehicle fleet.

Alan Mites, managing director at Maxi, says: "We have started using the FMS programme by running Dyneeet during November at our depot in Wrexham. During that period, we determined the benchmark for fuel usage. We are ensuring drivers understand our objectives and we'll be feeding back progress to them,"
