• London Regional Transport has confirmed that Bus Engineering Ltd (BEL) has been sold to Frontsource, which owns a number of other engineering companies. BEL employees have all been promised jobs, but operations are to be moved from Chiswick.
Bill Fairhall, LRT's director of Trading Services, says: "I am relieved that the uncertainty for staff has now ended and that some 275 jobs have been safeguarded. The terms Frontsource has offered for continuing employment are very reasonable and I believe that the new ownership, with access to wider markets, gives BEL the best chance of future commercial success."
