UNDER-USED railway lines could be converted where appropriate to all-purpose or limited access roads or coachways, suggests Room to Move — a report from the British Road Federation (CM, January, 14), calling for more investment in urban transport.
David Gent, director, said that BRF is interested in the proposal to close British Rail's Marylebone station in London for a much needed express coach station.
Westminster City Council is backing the plan to convert Marylebone into a coach station which would be linked by a coach-only road.
