FIVE units with premises and including 180 vehicles, 23 trailers, 22 additional vehicles and four additional trailers are contained in Special List Sc.2 published by the British Transport Commission on Wednesday. The units were unsold in the first Special Scottish List. Tenders close on February 23.

Perth: 7 vehicles, I trailer, 1 additional vehicle (25 tons), Peterhead'. 53 vehicles, 11 trailers, 8 additional vehicles, 2 additional trailers; Fraserborniu 9 vehicles. 1 additional vehicle (total, 62 vehicles. II trailers, 9 additional vehicles, 2 additional trailers-268 tons).

The units at Aberdeen, Kelso and Peterhead include eight-wheelers and six-wheelers, and there is a six-wheeler at Fraserburgh.

FREE TRAVEL TO RE RESTORED

ALTHOUGH irinddersfield Town Council recently cancelled freetravel facilities for about 5,000 old people, in view of the Court of Appeal's ruling in the Birmingham Corporation ease, the general purposes committee are taking steps towards restoration of

the facilities. .

The committee have decided to inquire whether the private. Membet's Bill now before Parliament conta iris any clause to. authorize municipal transport to provide, free travel for old people, and if this is not the ease to ask Huddersfield's two M.P. to Submit an amendment to provide such authority. The committee also decided to obtain counsel's opinion whether the granting of reduced fares would be legal.

Glasgow Transport Committee agreed on Monday upon the final details of a scheme for granting concession fares to old-age pensioners. An amendment has the effect of confining it to vehicles

°pouting within the . municipal boundary. This restriction has been ..imposed because of _the opposition of bus operators who held that the reduced bres would constitute unfair fiats. .

At a special meeting next week. Liverpool City Council will be asked to include clauses approving free travel for old-age pensioners in a Parliamentary Bill Promoted by the corporation.

ON Monday. at the end, of a , long hearing of a clahn.by Guy Motors, , Ltd., Lord Cohen, chairman of the Royal Commission on Awards to Inventors, said that the Commission were satisfied that the claim was valid. The company sought an award for developing a process of welding homohard unmaehineable armour plate for fighting vehicles.

It is understood that the amount of the award will be announced shortly.
