LAURIE DEALER HAS something different for you this week: a new 6x4 Iveco Stralis. It is specified with a Euro-5 10.3-litre Cursor 10 engine, producing 450hp and 2,100Nm peak torque, and has a ZF manual transmission. The Stralis includes a sliding fifth-wheel, and the high-roof sleeper cab has an air management kit, air horns and sun visor.
It is plated to 80 tonnes GVW, which is special types general order (STGO) category 2, and has not been registered.
MV Commercial, in Livingston, is selling the truck. The company has built a reputation for new-build crane-mounted trucks, which it hires out along with standard-specification tractors and rigids. It also sells its own vehicles.
While the Stralis doesn't fit the typical used truck of the week' profile, it is included because it is different. Double-drive tractors are not that common and, to make its value, it requires a specific type of customer operating in a specific sector, whether it is heavy, wide or over-sized loads. These trucks usually work consistently over long periods, often doing fewer but more intense miles.
