From Dick's Asbestos and insulating Co. comes the Danclad range of pre-insulated pipe cladding units.

Lightweight, quick to fit, easy to clean and competitive in cost, they are designed to suit a wide variety of applications including hot water lines, steam and steam-traced-oil lines, refrigerated pipework and all areas where anti-frost and anti-condensaticn characteristics are a pre-requisite.

Three surface finishes are available: lsogenopak rolled PVC sheeting 0.20in. thick, 26 s,w.g. reacted transverse aluminium and waterproof felt. Integral insulation comprises Danwool Lamella mineral wool in standard or firebatt grades to cater for application temperatures of up to 500deg F or 500-800deg F respectively. Unlike conventional insulating materials, the fibres of Danwool Lamella run vertical to the insulated surface. This gives it excellent load-bearing properties due to the compression of the fibres, particularly on the inner face, and also facilitates erection.

Danclad sections are available in fin. to 2in. thicknesses to fit pipes iin. 12in. nominal bore although non-standard sizes and Isogenopak rolled 511 is supplied in semiform and the Danclad transverse aluminium .rproof felt sections are in fiat form. Fixing is by self-tapping screws, r nylon rivets according or individual preference. g is in free, non-return)ns.

Polyurethane

Haydon Paints Ltd. announces that a range of 40 ready mixed vehicle colours in Polyurethane is to be marketed nationally through trade channels to the refinishing trade. The introduction of Polyurethane 55 represents a major breakthrough by Haydon Paints for the refinishers, fleet owners and converters because until now Polyurethane has been limited to specialist and industrial users. After exhaustive field and laboratory research by Haydon Paints Ltd., and associate companies, it is now able to announce this revolutionary range of Polyurethane.

It is claimed that less preparation is required when using Haydon 55 than for cellulose or acrylics, while the finish obtained is of a higher standard. Haydon 55 is a material which is harder than stove enamel, but as flexible as plastic, and fully cured so as to be stain-proof from dayto-day contaminators such as petrol. It will resist chemicals and corrosives and because of the type of pigmentation used, is able to retain its gloss and colour while still being virtually scratch proof.

It presents no problems with either toxicity or adhesion, two of the bugbears of Polyurethane paint when it was first introduced. The quick drying enamels (short-oil alkyds) widely used by refinishers at present, can be applied over any type of paintwork likely to be encountered on veh

icle bodies providing it is not applied to a dry coat of the same material. Any attempt to follow this procedure is likely to lead to "wrinkling" and lack of adhesion. No similar problems of any type arise with Haydon 55 Polyurethane.

The material also has exceptional build and durability, plus ease of application when compared with synthetic enamels and the finish can, if desired, be polished within hours of application. The standard of finish is unaffected by dampness in the atmosphere. A simple adhesive coat which dries within 5min of application is available. Polyurethane dries in 25-30min; two coats are normally recommended, but the second can be applied before the first is dry. No special equipment is required and the ratio of paint to thinners (normally 3 to 1) can be varied to suit the individual painter's requirements.

Interrogator

From Shipton Telstor Ltd., a telephdne answering machine with a difference. It's known as the Telstor Interrogator and as with conventional machines it records messages and gives a pre-recorded reply if a call is made out of office hours, or when the staff member is away and no one is available to answer the phone. But it also provides for a play-back of the messages over the phone if a call is made to the number in code so that the staff member concerned need not visit his office to check whether any messages have been received.
