A 12V high-speed motor has a two-speed switch, and its power consumption is 60 Watts. It provides an air flow of 175 cu.ft. min. (297cu. metres/hr.), air velocity through each nozzle being about 3,000ft./min. The weight of the whole unit is 9.6Ib (4.35kg). The filter element is of glass-fibre, is approximately of 12in. diameter and 2in. thick and can readily be cleaned by tapping out accumulated dust. Office output can seldom be accurately measured, but it is safe to say that the atmosphere in which staff work can make a world of difference to it. So it's worth taking a look at Air Improvement Services' latest addition to their comprehensive range of air-humidifiers called the Swiss-Air. Exclusive features include infinitely variable evaporation output from approximately to 2 pints per hr. and safe, robust construction. The units are precision engineered from nickel-plated stainless steel with a crack-resistant plastics casing incorporating two handles. The inside of the unit is coated with a special enamel

type paint to eliminate deposits of calcium and other water solids.

There are no moving parts and the automatic thermostat will cut off the appliance as soon as the water level drops to below 2 pints. Its warm moisture output eliminates heat loss and reduces heating bills considerably, compensating for electricity consumption.

An infinitely adjustable output control can be regulated to suit any particular requirements. Water is heated to the required degree at which it will evaporate within the ambient air. The heating element has no electrodes and is maintenance-free. It cannot be affected by any water deposits. The appliance is absolutely silent in operation.

The Apwar Press-a-Flow unit has been introduced as a means of delivering small quantities of fluid, typical of the requirement when using a cutting fluid for drilling, tapping and similar cutting operations, also for the periodic introduction of similar fluids when using a fly press.

The unit consists of a small tank, approximately 6in. x 10in. x 6in. high, which holds up to three-quarters of an Imperial gallon, and fitted with a foot pump. The fluid is fed via a length of PVC hosing which terminates in a flexible metal hose with jet, which can be secured in anyconvenient spot by means of a magnetic attachment block.

The unit will dispense any non-corrosive fluid up to a consistency equal to that of a thin jelly and the rate and frequency of discharge is governed by foot pressure. Accordingly, the feed can range from the merest dribble to a firm jet.

The Apwar unit eliminates the need for hand-held dispensers which are frequently dangerous. Foot operation leaves both hands free while the flexible output hose provides for accurate location of the nozzle and precise control of the deposit area for the ejected fluid. A non-return valve in the pump ensures that the system will offer immediate supply without re-priming, once the initial charge has been made.

The tank is finished in blue crackle and fitted with a robust carrying handle. A foot pedal of the organ type is situated on top of the tank. This pedal hinges back to reveal the filler cap.

The unit is fully portable with no plumbing, electrical, or external connection necessary for its use.

The unit is guaranteed for 12 months.

Motivair Compressors now make a new, low-cost, portable paint spraying plant—the Speedispray. Specifically developed to meet the demand for an efficient low-cost compressor unit with sufficient output to operate a professional-type spray gun, it gives a high-quality finish. The plant incorporates a diaphragm. compressor unit, a quart size internal mix spray gun, together with suitable adapter nuts and tail pieces.

The type 840 compressor unit embodies a diaphragm which completely separates the crank case froth the air chamber, thus ensuring a constant supply of clean, dry, oil-free air to the spray gun. It is driven via a standard vee-belt by a } hp, single-phase electric motor, wound for a 220/240V ac. domestic mains supply. The compressor, motor and vee-belt drive are all mounted on a baseplate equipped with a carrying handle.

The spray gun is of the internal mix, continuous-bleed type and is capable of handling all conventional gloss and emulsion paints, cellulose paints, polishes, varnishes, lacquers and creosote-cuprinol. It can be readily adapted for multi-colour spraying by use of a type 112SP nozzle and incorporates a unique air throttling screw enabling very heavy paints to be handled. The screw is initially adjusted so that paint is fed to the nozzle under pressure and is then slackened to give fine atomization. Made by: Motivair Compressors Ltd., Elleray Road, Teddington, Middx.

A new universal tubing sleeve for use with its inch range (from 0.125in. to 1.125in. o.d.) of solderless tube fittings has been developed by Enots. This latest, universal sleeve is provided with a positive stop, or shoulder which enables the user to determine easily when the joint has been made correctly and eliminates the dangers of underand over-tightening. The sleeve has been designed for use with both nylon and metallic tubing, thus eliminating the need to stock two types of sleeve.

When used with nylon tube the crimping effect of the new sleeve is substantially better than that of the existing nylon sleeve. Also, the universal sleeve ensures optimum thread engagement between the tubing-nut and the fitting body when used with all types of tubing.

Enots has also announced a new catalogue dealing in detail with metric sized comp'ression joints known as the Doublem range. The catalogue is available in four editions, with text in English, French, German or Swedish, and has been designed for use as a wail chart for easy reference by design engineers.

The publication covers not only Doublem fittings themselves but also the Enots nylon and copper tubing which have been designed specifically for use with these metric couplings and adaptors.

Doublem compression type tube couplings and adaptors are at present available for tubes of 5, 8, 12, 16, 22 and 28mm outside diameters. The range will later be extended to include the tube sizes 6 and lOmm.

The catalogue and other brochures are available on request to the company.
